Carole was a graduate of Spencer High School in Spencer, WV. She began her career as a switchboard operator and retired as a bookkeeper in the home construction field. She loved Florida and collecting shells. She had many different arts & crafts interests over the years, but her passion was genealogy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Fowler; her son, John David Fowler; her parents, Andrew Cox and Beulah Rishel Cox; her sister, Mary Margaret Cox Pyle; half-sister “Cookie” Cox Hall; as well as several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Fowler Reid (Rodney) of Jacksonville, Cathy Fowler McCallister (Mark) of Noblesville, Indiana, and Jay Fowler of Jacksonville; her step-children Karen Fowler Jefferies (Lew) of Livonia, MI, Jeff Fowler (Mary Alison) of Columbus, OH, and Jim Quinn (Bobbi) of Okachobee, FL; her grandchildren John White (Jennifer), Matt White (Kelly Meadows), Bradley Reid all of Jacksonville, Kendall Reid of Orlando, and Emily McCallister Knodle (David) of Columbus, Ohio; Chris Almand of Jacksonville; her great-grandchildren John White and Olivia White of Jacksonville; several step-grandchildren; nieces Marcia Cox Hall of Denton, TX; Jeanne Ferrell Moellendick (Milton) of Jacksonville and Meg Ferrell Miller (Rick) of Fairfax, Virginia; nephew Charles (Kip) Pyle (Lisa) of Wilmington, North Carolina; and several great nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin on Monday, December 13, 2021. Friends may visit the family beginning at 2:00 and the service will start at 3:00. Please feel free to wear colorful clothing; Carole loved bright colors. There is also a service being planned in St. Albans, WV at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home in early January; dates and times are still to be determined. Interment will be at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, WV.
