Madeleine was born in Providence, RI on March 18, 1944, daughter of the late Louis U. and Madeleine (Purcell) Loiselle. Her first 13 years were spent as a resident of Bronx, NY and were followed by a move to the Cortland, NY area. There, she fell in love and married the late Bruce Whaley, and they grew their family with the birth of Micheal (Roxanne) Whaley, Mark (Rebecca) Whaley, and Madeleine (Mark) Whaley- Henricksen. Many foster children would experience their first tender care in their home also. After becoming a widow at a young age, she remarried Robert White and welcomed their daughter Roberta (Mark) White-Ivey. As a proud Navy wife, she spent her days caring for her family, reading, and enjoying the beach. She would go on to attend Jones College and graduate with honors as a Certified Nurses Aid and begin to care for others in facilities and their homes. In 1984, she married Frank J. Ouellette, and they were blessed with a daughter, Lisa (Sarah) Ouellette. They would continue to make their home wherever the Navy sent them. No matter the location, her home was always open to family and friends.
Madeleine is survived by her husband of 42 years, Frank Ouellette; her children; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Rosemary (William) Gerber, Louis (Elizabeth) Loiselle, Melinda Schirmeister, and Elizabeth (Greg) McCartney.
The family will hold a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfield, NY on September 12, 2026, at 11am followed by a celebration of Madeleine’s life at Newfield Fire Hall from 12-3pm.
A mass will also be said in her honor at Christ the King Catholic Church in Jacksonville, FL.
