Madeline Fleming Kirkpatrick, a native of Jacksonville died on Friday, Jan. 13. Known by many names, Lynn, Little Lynn, Aunt Lynn, Mummenem or Mrs. K, you knew she was the consummate hostess entertaining family, friends and business associates through the decades. Being a true Southern Lady, she was ready to host you for breakfast, lunch, dinner or maybe even late into the evening. She had a great love of cooking and it was a way to share and show her love. Her greatest joys in life included her family and friends that she considered family. There were many summers spent at the family beach house. She and her late husband, Don Alan Kirkpatrick, Sr. had two sons: Alan and Brad. Lynn was involved in her boys activities. For awhile Lynn managed Gisenhoff’s Bookstore in San Marco and also worked as an Interior Designer with Ethan Allan. Lynn and Don were world travelers, though they could be just as happy fishing in Welaka. When at home, Lynn enjoyed gardening and was known to share cuttings and bouquets with neighbors. She was also a lover of animals, cats in particular and frogs.
Lynn was preceded in death by her husband Don Alan Kirkpatrick and her sister, Katherine Fleming Henry. Lynn is survived by her son, Alan and his wife, Kelli; their sons, Landon and Tyler; her son Brad and his wife Elizabeth; her sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Bill Scott; her brother-in-law, John Henry; ten nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in Oaklawn Cemetery.
