Mahran Salman

Mahran Salman was born on October 7, 1929, and passed away on September 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Mahran was born in Al Hasakah, Syria. He graduated from the University of Damascus in 1957 with a master’s degree in education and psychology. He had a fulfilling career as an educator, high school principal, a mentor for future educators, and as a leader and president of the teacher union for many years. Syria was always a big part of his heart, and after a lifetime in his beloved country, he moved to United States in 2012 to be closer to his family who he was happiest around. Although, he embraced his new country, and proudly became an American citizen, he spoke of Syria regularly, reminiscing of the happy days of his childhood, raising his children, long productive career, and enjoying time with his family and friends. Mahran was married to the love of his life Laura for more than 57 years.

Mahran is survived by his son Tamim and his wife Cheyanna, his son Waddah and his wife Hala, his daughter Rana and her husband Milad and his grandchildren Laura, Matthew, Andrew, Yasmin, Ava and Anna. The family gratefully acknowledges all who send their condolences.

The family will receive visitors between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM on Monday, September 7th, 2026, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 6300 Bowden RD, immediately followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM with Very Rev. Archpriest Dr. Kamal Al-Rahil officiating. A committal service will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
