
Maniford Claude Taylor, Sr., 83 of Jacksonville passed gently from his earthly life on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Community Hospice, Baptist Medical Center. He was born November 18, 1938 in Kelly, NC, the son of the late Henry Claude Taylor and Elsie Lee Peterson Taylor. Maniford is survived by his sons and daughter, Howard R. Taylor, Maniford C. Taylor, Jr., and Lycrecia R. Taylor Dove; grandchildren, Lisa Marie Taylor Vokos, Ami Taylor Stevens, Jeffrey Taylor, Ashleigh Taylor and Christina Dove.
Maniford, began his career working with the Atlantic Coast Line in Wilmington, NC. He transferred with the railroad to Jacksonville, Fl in 1960. He worked for the railroad his entire working life which included the Atlantic Coast Line, Seaboard Coast Line and CSX. Maniford served with the NC Army National Guard and ultimately retired from the Florida Army National Guard. Maniford was a gentle, humble man who enjoyed simple pleasures like fishing, family, and working with his hands in the garden. He could grow one mean tomato! Maniford was a great Dad and Grandad. His smile, love for his family and his consideration for others will always be remembered. A family memorial service is being planned for the Spring in NC.
