

Margaret Jean Brown was born June 15, 1933, in Ft Wayne IN., to the proud parents of Charles Carlos Milton and Irene Blanks-Chavis. Margaret was a wonderfully crafted woman, brimming with grace, compassion, and spunk. She was hardworking, independent, and strong-willed, with a heart of gold and a generous spirit. She was the kind of woman who would give her life in service to others. An amazing mother and mom to all who knew her. A lover of God and a keeper of peace. Margaret’s passion for God was the foundation of her life and that passion for God transcends through four generations.
Margaret’s childhood began in Indiana under the care of Alberta and James Blanks. She came from humble beginnings that taught her to become resourceful and resilient. Through many transitions Margaret later found herself in a permanent residence of Newark NJ, where she later graduated high school.
Margaret had multiple careers. She worked as a nurse’s assistant at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark NJ and later relocated to New York where she worked at Western Electric. Margaret was a master of many trades. She was a devoted caregiver, community political advocate with a love for home interior design and fashion.
Margaret was a devoted Christian who spread the word of God to anyone she encountered, Margarets footsteps were guided by Christ in everything she done she referenced the bible, she sought God first and reveled in God’s word daily. Her favorite scriptures were Psalm 100: 1-4, Psalm 105:15, Psalm 118:24. She was a faithful member and tither of Lilburn Alliance church for many years.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Brown, father Charles Carlos Milton, Mother Irene Chavis, Brothers Dr. William R. Chavis Sr., Bobby Milton and daughter Dr. Kim Livsey-Barney. She’s survived by Tina Livsey, Cheyone Brown, Lisa Brown, Tanya Brown-Smith, Sondi Nelson, Kirkland Brown, David Brown, Jaime Edwards, Nicole Edwards-Wilson, Courtney Edwards, 31 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, Uncle Chester Blanks and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, located at 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, on December 19, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the same venue on December 20, 2025, starting at 11:00 am.
The committal service will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, on December 20, 2025.
