Margaret Leto DiChiara

Margaret Leto DiChiara, 75, of Jacksonville, FL passed away August 20, 2010 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.She was born March 30, 1935, in New York, New York, the daughter of late Peter & Lucille Leto. She was the oldest of 3 siblings. On July 7, 1957, she married Girlamo (Jerry) DiChiara, who survives her.She graduated from University of Florida in 1957 with a degree in Elementary Education. During her 25 year career she touched the lives of many children. She taught in Tampa, FL; Highland Falls, NY; Eau Galley, FL and completed her career at San Jose Catholic School, Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of the San Jose Catholic Church and the Jacksonville Junior Women’s Club. She enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her interests included painting, ceramics and crafts. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.She is survived by her son, Jerry DiChiara of San Diego, CA; son, Peter DiChiara (Cherie) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Melissa Poirier (Gregg) of Wellington, FL; grandchildren, Cecil, Maggie, Simon DiChiara and Taylor, Grace & Trey Poirier; sisters, Martha Cerra (Ralph) and Nellie Mae Westberry; sister-in-law Rose Varon of Tampa, FL; along with countless other friends & family whom were blessed to know her. The Celebration of the Mass will be held 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at San Jose Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at San Jose Catholic Church, from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Capitol Building Campaign Fund, San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Rd. Jacksonville, FL. 32257.
