Peggy was born in Chicago, IL and moved with her family to Sarasota, Florida when she was twelve years old.
She was a Proud Gator who graduated Cum Laude from the University Of Florida College Of Education, and obtained a post graduate certification in Special Education from the University of North Florida.
She loved travel and the outdoors, especially her many trips to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and The Florida Keys, camping in her motorhome “Harvey the RV”.
She loved hiking, and was a talented wild flower photographer. She also enjoyed exploring Florida’s Keys and springs in her kayak, snorkeling and underwater photography.
Peggy is survived by her Husband of 43 years, Wayne Katez, her children, Douglas Katez (Belinda) and Stacey Boch (David), siblings, Lawrence P. (Larry O.B.) Wooding, Donna Banks (Eric), Carolyn, and Shari (Brian), two grandchildren and fourteen nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Delores H. Wooding and Lawrence F. Wooding, her grandmother, Helen Carlson and her sister, Valerie J. Benford
The family is honoring Peggy’s request to have her cremains distributed at the pinnacle of Blood Mountain, her first solo ascent on the Appalachian Trail.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Peggy’s honor to The Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinsons.org) to help fund research to find a cure to this terrible disease.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hgmandarin.com for the Katez family.
