Margaret “Margie” Alice Kershner passed away on February 23, 2025, at age 92. She was born on August 11,1932 to the late Margaret and Charles Unger in Philadelphia, PA. On June 28, 1952, she married the love of her life, Charles “Bud” Kershner. They celebrated 72 wonderful years of marriage together.
Margie is survived by her husband, Bud and two daughters, Karen Martin of Ponte Vedra, FL, and Charlene Galenski and husband, Mark, of Waxhaw, NC. She will also be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren, Christine Martin (Nate); Dana Galenski, (Karen); Danielle Scollo; and Kyle Galenski (Gabe); as well as five great-grandchildren, Jackson, Hudson, Kaleb, Charlotte and Marlee.
Survivors also include her sister, Lil Paolucci of Plymouth Meeting, PA; and brother-in-law, Nick Pettola of Pompano Beach, FL. She is predeceased by sister, Bernice Pettola and brother, Butch Unger. Margie was also the adored aunt of her nieces and nephews and was always grateful for her many friends.
She had a passion and heart for helping others. Whether serving the homeless, volunteering at her church, or serving as an advocate for children with exceptional needs, she was always doing something to better the community. She worked as a paraprofessional for many years and remained in touch with some of the exceptional students and their families through the years... She was a light, a beacon of hope, a voice for those in need, and almost always had a smile on her face, not to mention a laugh that was contagious. To her, everyone was family, everyone had a story and everyone mattered.
A private celebration of life will be held in her memory at a future date and location.
Bud and family would like to thank the caregivers at Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacksonville, FL for providing compassionate care and comfort during her final days.
Bye, Bye for now….Until we meet again….
