Marian Alice Korteling Levai, age 98, passed peacefully on January 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Her life was a beautiful testament to faith, service, and unwavering compassion for others.
Born on March 10, 1927, in South India to devoted missionary parents, Marian’s life was shaped early by a deep sense of purpose and a heart for service. She received her education at Kodaikanal International School, Hope College, and the University of Michigan Medical School, where she began a lifelong calling to care for both the mind and spirit. Dr. Levai served faithfully as a physician, psychiatrist, and psychiatric director, touching countless lives through her wisdom, empathy, and gentle presence.
Marian shared 61 loving years of marriage with her husband, Blaise Levai, a respected pastor, educator, and author. Together, they exemplified a life of devotion—to God, to family, and to the greater good.
In her later years, Marian made her home at Westminster Woods in Jacksonville, Florida, where she continued to be known for her gracious spirit, thoughtful conversations, and quiet strength. She will be remembered always for her deep faith, kindness, compassion, and the love she so freely gave to all who knew her.
She is lovingly survived by her sister, Maisie; her brother, Ralph; her five children, Lynda, Kathy, Nanci, Bob, and Judy; ten grandchildren; and many cherished great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of love.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Westminster River Lounge, located at 25 State Road 13, Jacksonville, Florida 32259.
