BUERKLE – Marianne W. Buerkle, age 90, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on July 31, 2014.Mrs. Buerkle, born on December 19, 1923, to Edward and Mathilda White, was a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Buerkle, also of Pittsburgh. They moved to Jacksonville in 1957. Mr. Buerkle died in 1969. Mrs. Buerkle taught English at Assumption Catholic School for 36 years, where she was an avid fan of diagramming sentences as a learning tool. Her students will fondly remember her favorite example, “Mother baked a cake”.She is survived by her son Bruce (Susan) Buerkle of St. Louis, MO and her daughter Judy (Bill) McKee of Woodstock, GA. Her grandchildren were her greatest source of joy and “Gram” will be deeply missed by Dr. Lauren Buerkle (Fred) Brace of Cleveland OH, Dr. Meghan McKee (Lindsey) Smith of Ball Ground, GA, Colleen McKee of Canton, GA, Timothy McKee of Woodstock, GA, and Gregory Buerkle of St. Louis, MO, and her great-granddaughter Isabelle Brace of Cleveland, OH.Mrs. Buerkle is also survived by her brothers Ed (Dorothy) White of Pittsburgh, PA and George (Donna) White of Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law Mary Grace (Bob) Joyce of Pittsburgh, PA; nephews Bill (Eva) White of Ponte Vedra Beach FL and Ned White of Milwaukee, WI; and nieces Patricia White (Cynthia Schneider) of Philadelphia, PA, Kathleen Matlock of Pittsburgh, PA, and Lisa Friend of Houston, TX.Mrs. Buerkle’s visitation, and joyful celebration of her life, will be held at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, on Friday, August 15th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM with Father Michael Larkin.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 16th at 9:30 AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, former student, Father Jason Trull officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville. A reception will follow in Assumption Parish Hall.
