

Marilyn Dolores Allen, age 83, passed away suddenly on the evening of Sunday, November 24, 2013. The vows that were taken 52 years ago remain true after the groom came back for his bride six days after his passing. Marilyn is survived by her beloved children, Joseph Baneth Allen and Selma Victoria Franz; beloved son-in-law Christopher Franz; her devoted grandchildren Jeff, Zack, and Ashley and herhusband Kevin, who she held close to her heart; and her great-grandchildren Addison and Markaylynn. Marilyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband George Ross Allen; parents, Gabriel Baneth and Selma Schonbrunn Baneth; her sister Florence Frank; and her brother Gerald Baneth. Marilyn was in the Women’s Army Corps, ranked Specialist 4 and met her future husband, George when they were both stationed at Fort Belvoir, Kentucky in 1960. As a Marine Corps wife, she had taken the dual role of being both mother and father. She was a devoted mother and wife. In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed going to Barnes and Noble, reading, picture puzzles, and had a passion for Disney. She loved being with her family. She was known as a very honorable woman who people enjoyed spending time with. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at1:30p.m.on Friday,November 29, 2013inJacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32218.
