Marilyn June Tanney passed away peacefully at home July 25, 2018. Marilyn was born June 12, 1928, in the Bronx, New York, to Esther and Kenneth Kagan. Marilyn’s devotion to the Jewish faith made for many special stories and holiday recipes that will continue to be passed down through future generations. Her warmth, friendliness, and compassion led to an ease in frequent conversation even with total strangers. Her kind and generous demeanor carried her into a career in education at Lehrman Day School in Miami Beach, Florida. As a kindergarten teacher, Marilyn enriched the lives of her students year after year, many of whom reached out as adults to express their gratitude for the impact she had on them. But her greatest delight was in the love for her family.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Iris Kraemer, son-in-law Mark, her grandchildren Elissa, Kenny and his wife Ashley, and her great-grandson, Jonah.
A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11:00am at the New Center Cemetery, 200 E. 43rd St. Jacksonville, FL 32208. Donations can be made to The Jewish Federation of Jacksonville.
