He was an active member/volunteer of his church, St. Joseph’s. Mario knew no strangers and firefighters who worked alongside him remember him for his caring attitude and gregarious smile.
In addition to his fire department duties, Mario worked as part of the Federal National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) on a Disaster Medical Assistance Team, DMAT FL-4. He also worked several election cycles as a poll worker for the Duval County Supervisor of Elections and worked the past 10 years with Chemical Dependency Counseling.
Mario loved his family with all his heart and enjoyed spending time with them. Mario was extremely proud of his children and was active in each of their lives. Mario is also survived by his mother, Juanita, 2 sisters Marina and April, and a brother, Hymien.
Mario was a hard-working guy who was always ready to lend a hand, putting his electrical and handyman skills to use. He especially enjoyed spending time with the family at Disney, flying his drone, and Star Wars.
