Marion Patricia Purvis, affectionately known as Pat, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
Pat was born September 4, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland the only child of Marion Chandler McIntyre and Bruce McIntyre Jr. Pat’s family moved to Jacksonville, Florida when she was two years old. She lived most of her life in her Southside Estates family home.
Pat was the kind of person you rarely meet -- genuinely kind, without pretense, and generous to her core. She raised her three children as a single mom, working multiple jobs to make ends meet. She passed that same fierce work ethic on to her children. She never backed down from anything, and her quiet, personal faith showed itself in many acts of generosity toward her friends, neighbors, and family. Pat’s friend group was extensive; her co-workers, neighbors, and everyone she worked for loved her.
Her children and grandchildren have fond memories of many holidays, birthdays or just a Sunday afternoon spent at Grandma Pat’s house. She would spend hours cooking and decorating to make everything special. Pat often opened her home to friends coming into town or someone that just needed a place to stay for a while. In those days, her home was a place where all were welcome and could feel at ease.
Pat is survived by her children: JoAnn (Mike) Wright, Frances (Bob) O’Steen and Brooks Purvis, Jr.; her grandchildren, Brooke (Clayton) Pearlstein, Abbey (Paul) Campbell, Justin (Melissa) O’Steen, Kayla (Davie) Hendricks, Danielle Haddad (Fadi) and Matthew Wright; and great-grandchildren: Eleanor, Athanasius, Boaz, Felicity, Moses, Vail, Pilar, Ezekiel, Amos, Audrey, Elijah, Isaiah and Amira.
She is also survived by many wonderful friends, including two very special ladies: Midge Moore, her dearest friend for over 40 years. Thank you, Midge for always being there for “Scooty”; and Tylene Andrews, Pat’s caregiver, and friend for the last two and a half years. Thank you, Tylene for making Ms. Pat feel special every day, for taking the very best care of all her needs and keeping her smiling – our family is forever grateful.
Rest in peace Mom, we love you.
