Mark V. Costello, Jr. (Buddy) of Jacksonville died April 18, 2017. Born in Tampa in 1924, the family moved to Jacksonville in 1928 where he resided for the remainder of his life. The son of Mark and Nellie Costello, Buddy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June E. Costello, of 65 years, brother David, sister
Margaret, brother Paul, son Danny and daughter Margaret. He is survived by his son Mark III and wife Laura, daughter Sharon Shaffer, son Timothy, daughter Kathleen Weldy and husband Max, son Sean, daughter Siobhan Fennelly and husband Martin; 26 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In December of 1942, Buddy left the University of Florida to join the Navy and was honorably discharged in March of 1946 as a First Class Quartermaster. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. on Monday April 24 at Christ the King Church, 742 Arlington Rd. N., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be immediately after Mass in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family requests that all flowers be omitted.
