Marta “Mary” Elhinn Essa passed away on August 12, 2021, at the age of 72. Born in Ramallah, Palestine on November 2, 1948, she emigrated to the United States after marrying her husband, George Mike Essa and made her home in Jacksonville, Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, Awad and Fadwa Elhinn, brother Nageeb and her husband of 49 years, George Essa.
Mary is survived by her beloved children, Jimmy, Danny and Carmen Essa, her three siblings Samir (Georgette), Issa (Evelyn) and Nadia Elhinn, her Essa siblings-in-law Kareem (Helen), Roger, Michael (Aleta), Julia Azzouz (Edward), Omar (Janie) and Raymond, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marta was a brilliant woman who loved learning and had many interests including reading, writing, needlework, gardening and cooking and she excelled at all of them. She spoke three languages fluently (Arabic, English, French) and was a constant supporter of her husband and kids, who were her whole world.
Due to covid restrictions, a private family-only memorial service will be held at a later date.
