Martha Clyatt Fretwell

Martha Clyatt Fretwell, died October 20 after a long illness. Born in Gainesville, GA Martha grew up in Madison, FL. She graduated from the St. Vincent’s Nursing School in 1950 and fulfilled her nursing career with the Hospital. She married Horace R. Fretwell and they had four children. When not working Martha enjoyed sewing, smocking and needlework. She also had a marvelous green thumb and raised orchids.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Horace in 2012. She is survived by her children: Frances Rhodes (Tallahassee, FL), Carl Fretwell (Blue Ridge, GA), Helen Fretwell (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and Susan Foglton (Atlantic Beach, FL); 5 grandchildren, Emily Whitlock, Allison Norton, Thomas Fretwell, Barnes McKenzie and Mason McKenzie and 9 great grandchildren.

Private services were held on October 24th at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials in Martha’s name to either Community Hospice of Jacksonville or Avondale United Methodist Church.
