

Born on January 26, 1940, in White Springs, Florida, Martha was the daughter of William L. and Mary Beecher Anderson. She began her career as a first-grade teacher in Miami, Florida. After marrying Jefferson Davis Hunt III, she moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where she dedicated herself fully to the role of homemaker and devoted her life to raising her children. She later made her home in Jacksonville, Florida, where she married Donald Newton.
Martha was known for her kindness to others. She was always cheerful, loving, and deeply devoted to her family. She had a rare ability to make everyone around her feel welcome and special. She especially cherished time spent with her family and held a close and special bond with her grandson, Noah Richman.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Hunt Richman (Mark); her son, Jefferson Davis Hunt IV; and her grandson, Noah Richman. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mary Benton; her brothers, Walter Jarrell and W.L. Anderson; and her parents, William L. and Mary Beecher Anderson.
A private graveside ceremony will be held in White Springs, Florida, where Martha will be laid to rest beside her mother.
Martha’s generous heart and joyful presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
