

He was employed by Gulf Life Insurance Company for 29 years, and after retirement worked as a bailiff in the Duval County Courthouse for 9 years. He loved the Gators, the Jaguars and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and also loved his 3 cats.
He served in the Army in World II during the Normandy Invasion. He was in the 26th Infantry Regiment in the European Theatre of Operations.
His devoted wife, Sandra Safer Deutsch Weiss of 35 years, survives him. He is also survived by his children, Sara (Brian) Hodges; Mark Deutsch (Debbie); Beth Sparks (David); and grandchildren Elizabeth, Brian, Julia, Megan, Mitchell, Jason, and also great-grandchildren, Amber and Alexander along with many family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held graveside at the New Center Cemetery, 43rd and Liberty St., Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:30 am. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL.
