Marvin Boutwell, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2016, at home after a lengthy illness. Born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Mary (Dunford) and Isaac Boutwell; he is preceded in death by his brother, Ernest D. Boutwell. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores Mary Catanese Boutwell “Dee”; his daughter, Bondi Winstel (Don); his son, Bart Boutwell (Michele); his grandchildren, Austin Winstel, Kitty Winstel, and Sophie Boutwell; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Marvin graduated from the University of Florida in 1953 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating, he served for over 3 years in the military, and then worked in the field of engineering for over 50 years, retiring as Jacksonville City Engineer in 1988 and then private practice. He often said he “could ramble on about titles given me and jobs I held or performed, but the only job for which I wished to be remembered is forming a loving family, raising and educating our children in hopes they will carry on, enjoy life, and do at least the same or better for their children”.
The Reverend Eric Williams of Lakewood United Methodist Church will preside over graveside services at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, on Thursday, December 8th at 10:00 AM.
