
Mary Ann Chandler Bliss, Age 79 devoted wife, loving mother, doting Grandmother, and Great-grandmother returned to our Lord at her home on August 23. Mary Ann is survived by her husband Rupert, and children Chan (Jan), Homer (Cathryn), Palmer Ann (Joe), Allison, and Rebekah (John), and by 9 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also her brothers Billy and Bobby. Every Sunday Mary Ann could be found in the front row at Good Shepard Episcopal Church, where she served faithfully in many areas, but her knowledge of the Moravian tiles was her passion. Mary Ann also devoted time as a volunteer at the Cummer Museum of Art in Riverside. Her love of art extended beyond being a volunteer, Mary Ann was also a lifelong painter creating works of art for her own enjoyment and for others. Mary Ann won awards earlier in her life for flower arranging as a member of the Alyssum Garden Circle of the Garden Club of Jacksonville. Her love of flower arranging continued all her life fueled by the flowers raised in the gardens around her home. Mary Ann was born in Greenville, S.C. to Hassell and Lilly Chandler, and grew up in Greenville, N.C. She graduated from Meridith College in Raleigh, N.C., with a degree in Elementary Education. Mary Ann and Rupert met in Raleigh, N.C. while he was in school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Mary Ann loved and found beauty in the world around her. Services will be held 10:00AM Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Church of the Good Shepard, 1100 Stockton Street. Jacksonville, Florida. Reception to follow the service at the church.
