Mary Ann was born on December 1, 1943 in Lyons, Indiana. She was raised surrounded by a host of friends and family including her beloved Aunt Hazel and Uncle Horace. She attended local schools including business college before meeting her husband SFC William Mann at a Halloween party. Not long after, Bill asked Mary Ann had she ever thought about what it would be like to be married to him and they were wedded on February 23, 1963. They were married 59 years.
Now an Army spouse, national and worldwide travel followed. Bill and Mary Ann started their family in June of 1964 when their son Tracy was born at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. Daughter Dena was born in Linton, Indiana in 1965 followed by Andrea in 1967 in Italy. Their travels included Hawaii, Italy, Texas, New Mexico, Indiana and Colorado Springs before settling in Jacksonville where they could be surrounded by immediate family.
Mary Ann had distinguished careers in the Colorado Springs District Attorney’s office in the Consumer Affairs division and in El Paso county schools where she worked as a para-professional specializing in children with autism.
Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with family, spoiling grandchildren, listening to Elvis Presley and Freddie Mercury, holding Netflix and YouTube marathons and patronizing local restaurants. She was devoted to daughter Andrea and was her life-long advocate even caring for her into her later years.
