NEWTON Mary P. Newton, 87, passed away on Wednesday July 16, 2014 after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 5, 1926 in Rincon, Georgia to William Hull Poythress and Bertha Mae Doyle Poythress. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 45 years Lawrence A. Newton, Sr. in 1991. She was one of had seven brothers and sisters, of which two survive. Mary was a long time member of Arlington Baptist Church and a former member of the Trailblazers Choir. She loved to cook and travel but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and hearing about their lives. Survivors include her son, Lawrence “Larry” A. Newton, Jr. (Cindy); brothers, Doyle and John Poythress; grandchildren, Larry Newton, III, April Human (Douglas) and Blake Newton; great grandchild, Skyler Mauney; several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Newton will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 21, in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery.
