Mary Josephine Fox Thompson, 95, passed away in Jacksonville, FL on March 13, 2018. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 11, 1922 to parents Frederick and Mary Fox. In February of 1946, she was married to Joseph Edward Thompson at the St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood, New Jersey.
Mary and Joseph later relocated to Jacksonville, FL. After her husband’s discharge from the U.S. Navy, Mary worked for and later retired from the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitation Services in the Children’s Medical Services Division in Jacksonville. Mary was a faithful Catholic and was a parishioner of Assumption Catholic Church up until recent years when she relocated to Taylor Manor.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Edward Thompson, and her two children, her son Joseph Edward Thompson Jr. and her daughter Diane Marie T. McLin. She is survived by her nephew John Nettles, her second cousin, Mary Jo Edwards, and her dear friends, George and Pam Dewey. She also leaves to cherish her memory members of the Edwards, Boehmer, and Swanner families, as well as her many friends. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Thursday, March 22, 2018, with a visitation beginning at 9:00am, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3383 University Blvd. North, Jacksonville, FL 32277. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Arrangements are under the care of HARDAGE-GIDDENS GRRENLAWN, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
