Rick and I were friends in Valcartier, Quebec, in the early 1970s when we were teenagers. It was always music, music, music with Rick. We would often listen to records in his parents’ basement, and he would sit with a stack of about twenty albums on his lap, using them as a makeshift drum, slapping in time with the beat. When the Alice Cooper album “Billion Dollar Babies” came out (the cover was designed like a wallet), Rick cut out the perforated pictures of the band members and proudly carried them in his wallet. In the late 1970s, he would end his letters to me with the initials “LLLZ” – standing for “Long Live Led Zeppelin.” I am grateful that we kept in touch over the years; it was a pleasure to keep talking about music, old and new, with my old friend.

My deepest condolences go out to Rick’s family on both sides of the border. I’ll keep his memory strong and I’ll keep the music playing in his honour.

My deepest condolences for your loss of Rick.  Didn't know him well, as everyone else, but had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of years ago for a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. He & Catherine are perfect host and good cooks :)  And another time I was invited for one of Catherine's Birthdays.  It was quite the celebration.  Nice to see Rick was an Alice Cooper fan, me too. Nth Engine, Rolling Rock, CADD, 3D Studio Viz, the basement... the amount of memories, influences, smiles, good times are countless. To have known Rick makes me one of the luckiest people on earth. It's so easy to look around and see how he has influenced not only my own life but those I connect with daily. While I am so deeply sad that he is gone, I am also so amazingly happy that I had the chance to have known him so well. There will never be another Rick Muise. But his legacy will endure throughout the ages. God speed, Rick. I love you.

I am so saddened by Rick's passing. And so sorry that I could not attend his memorial service today.

I worked with Rick for almost 25 years, both in NJ and in Jacksonville.  Many of our former colleagues have reached out to me in the past couple of weeks and they all say the same thing.  Rick was such a great guy and always greeted you with a smile.   They also said that Rick set the standards at a very high level and the Golder graphics and CADD standards are due to his diligence and dedication.   He can never be replaced.  

For me, my favorite memory was when Rick helped me out when I had to bring my children to work with me one day. Rick set them up at the light table in the CADD Department, gave them paper and colored pencils and let them hang out in his department while I was in meetings.    He didn't treat them as a bother but as honored guests.

I think Rick would entirely get a kick out of the fact that I have had to use AutoCADD in my current job.  And he would understand my frustration that I can not get the quality of my drawings anywhere close to his standards!  He must be having a great laugh about that.

Rick was above all KIND!    Rick understood the meaning of the word Love, not just love of family, or spouse but love of all humans.  He understood what Christ meant by Love your Neighbor.  I will truly miss him.


Rick was a great guy and will be missed.  It was fun talking with him about music.  And the drafting and CADD data management mentorship he shared sticks with me today.  Thanks for posting the pictures.  It’s been a while since I talked to Rick and those pictures reminded me of how full of life he was.  My condolences to Catherine and the rest of his family. – from a former colleague.  

Ricky and I shared many happy times in the late 70's listening to his favorite bands at high volume in his bedroom. It was always nice to see him again - always a positive person.
