My heart is heavy at learning of the passing of my beloved cousin, Maxine. Our father's were first cousins, our grandmothers were sisters and our grandfathers were brothers. Two sisters had married two brothers.

We spent many times in each other's homes during our childhood. Maxine, a few years older than I, would teach me childhood games, take me to the movies and listen to my complaints. When Maxine was in high school, she worked after school hours in the Brooklyn, NY public library and planned to leave upon graduation. Since I was a year behind her in school, she spoke to the librarian for me and I soon replaced her in the position she held in the children's section until my own graduation the following year.

When Maxine and Billy moved to Florida, we would visit them when we came to the state for vacation. When my husband and I moved to Florida, we would see each other on occasion, either at their home or at nearby restaurants.

Maxine was the last closest link to my dad's family and I will miss talking with her and reliving old times. My deepest condolences to Maxine's daughters, their husband's and Maxine's grand daughter. I know that a shining light has gone from their lives.
