Maxine was a good neighbor and a talented lady.  She was head librarian at San Marco Branch Library until her retirement, and I know she loved to read long after she retired.

She was a talented gardener. I well remember her running along our street, shovel held at arms length, calling my name to come see the snake she'd uncovered under a bush while weeding! It was quite the sight!

Her front yard was lovely, full of flowers and pretty pots, and her backyard was the same. She never tired of finding something beautiful at the nursery.

In her later years she slowed down, as well all do, I guess, and spent time watching the birds on her feeders and the marauding squirrels., which she also welcomed.

I'll remember her as a gardener and a reader, and a good person.
