Melvin Bill Avery

AVERYMelvin “Bill” Avery, age 82, of Bryceville went to Glory on Sunday, April 15, 2012. Mr. Avery is survived by his wife Ann of 57 years; daughter, Susan (Wayne) Thorburn; 3 sons, David (Debbie) Avery of Callahan; Billy (Michelle) Avery of Jacksonville; Christopher (Jessica) Avery of Callahan. He is also survived by a sister, Mary (Charles) Padgett, Jacksonville; a brother-in-law, James (Bobbie) Andrews of Patterson, GA; a daughter-in-law, Lori Avery of Callahan. He is preceded in death by a sister, Jean Andrews and his parents, Pastor & Mrs. D.E. Avery. Bill also is survived by 10 wonderful grandchildren and many loving relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at San Mateo Baptist Church, Thursday 11am, where he was a member for 52 years. Pastor John Lineberry, Dr. Franklin D. Taylor Sr. and Pastor Larry McGinley will officiate. Burial will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8pm at the Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Community Hospice.
