

Michael Vincent Pitocchi, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth Pitocchi; his sons, Peter Pitocchi (spouse Lourdes Pitocchi) and Daniel Pitocchi (spouse Olga Pitocchi); his daughter, Melissa Baron (spouse Fred Baron); and his predeceased son, Mike Pitocchi. Mike also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Stephanie Grell, Amanda Johnston, Ana Krause, Veronica Urista, Peter F. Pitocchi, Emily Pitocchi, Sarah Baron, and Amelia Baron, as well as five great-grandchildren: Michael, Jacob, Lilah, Arthur, and Franklin.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Mike grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wasp. Following his service, Mike earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and went on to complete an MBA at Rutgers University. He enjoyed a successful long career as a Federal Government FDIC bank examiner until his retirement in 1992. Mike spent many fulfilling years after retirement living a full life with Ruth, family, and friends in Jacksonville. Florida. In his spare time, he was a craftsman and artist, enjoying stained glass work and wood carving.
Mike was known for his kindness and generosity, always putting the needs of others before his own. He was highly ethical, often choosing the right path over the popular one, and demonstrated deep compassion and generosity, particularly towards those less fortunate. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes, a private funeral service with full military honors will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Monday, September 16, 2024.
