Rudolph Milton Albert, Jr., age 85, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Mickey grew up in Pulaski, Virginia, the son of Shirley and Rudy Albert. He was a chemist, having received his undergraduate degree from King College in Bristol, TN, master’s from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and doctorate from the University of Florida. He was an avid bridge player and a galloneer blood donor.
Mickey was survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jane Hale Davis; his five children Elizabeth Albert (Andy Janquitto) of Towson, MD, Laura Albert of Jacksonville, Florida, Robert Albert (Christie) of Woodbridge, Virginia, Rebecca Wood (David) of Gainesville, Florida, and Daniel Albert (Carmen) of Clearwater, Florida; four grandchildren Patrick Albert, Zachary Wood, Jacob Wood, and Katelyn Albert and two step grandchildren Jason Robinson and Jessica Whisenant. He is also survived by his only sibling, Kaye Albert of Blacksburg, Virginia, with whom he talked weekly, keeping up with her four children, nephews; Howard, Joe and Ronald Covey and niece Rhonda Peyton and their families.
Jane and the children held a private tribute on October 21, 2023 on the dock at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek, where Mickey was an active and valued member of the community.
