

HOLLAND – Mildred Waters Holland went home to be with her Lord, June 24, 2015. Mildred was born in Appling County, Georgia on February 10, 1928 to John and Allie Mae Waters. She lived there with her 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1947 to pursue a career at Gulf Life Insurance Company. In 1952, she and her loving husband Ed were married. With that marriage came the birth of her children, Woody (Melody) and Wanda (Marc) Frith. She worked with the Duval County School System for 20 years as well as the family business. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served her Lord faithfully. Mildred loved serving others as was evident in the numerous people who came into her home for a place to stay, a meal to eat or just to sit and share kindred hearts. Mildred’s 5 grandchildren, Woodard (Jennifer), Carol (Jonathan) Moore, Harrison Frith, Laura (Ben) Wuerffel and Marshall Frith and 7 great grandchildren brought much joy to her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Johnnie Mae (Jack) Varnadore and Charles (Cindy) Waters and sister- in- law Grace Gaskin. Mildred was blessed to have two wonderful caregivers in her life as well, Elvia Edwards and Cheryll Jones. The family will receive friends at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, FL from 5:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, June 28, 2015 . All family and friends are invited to a celebration of Mildred Holland’s life at Arlington Baptist Church, 6009 Arlington Road, Jacksonville, Florida, at 11:00 am on Monday, June 29, 2015 conducted by Preacher Wilford McCormick and Brother Bill Coffman. Interment to follow at Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Community Hospice Northeast, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
