Milo Henry Holt, 92, a long-time Jacksonville resident, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, following several months of declining health. Milo was born in rural Dell Rapids, South Dakota, in 1924 to Henry G. Holt and Gertie M. (Monger) Holt, the youngest of four children. He graduated from Dell Rapids High School and farmed in the area until he retired in 1980. He then relocated to Jacksonville because of family in the area and became a financial advisor for the American Classic Securities until 2008 when he once again retired. Milo had been an active member of Toastmasters International, Sons of Norway Gateway to Florida Lodge 3-541 and Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church. He served meals on wheels and was a Sunday school teacher. He was very proud of his Lutheran faith and his Norwegian ancestry since his Mother was born in Norway.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three older sisters. Surviving family include varied nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 1-3 p.m., with the service to follow at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 at Hardage Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville with Senior Pastor George Johnson, officiating. He will be buried in a family plot in rural South Dakota. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church Youth Ministry, 7860 Southside Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32256 or Sons of Norway, 4013 Moresburg Court, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
