Milton E. Gilmore

Milton Eugene Gilmore, 88, joined his beloved wife Louise, in heaven on October 2, 2014, just four short months after her passing. Eugene was born and raised in Wadesboro, NC. He and Louise were married 67 years and lived in Jacksonville most all of those years. He worked 39 years as a Dispatcher for CSX Railroad before retiring in 1986.

Affectionately called Doc or Uncle or Poppy or Dad or simply Gene, he will forever live in the hearts of loved ones. As an avid sportsman, numerous and cherished memories will repeatedly be shared on the water and around campfires eternally. So thankful we will meet again, when we are absent from the body and present with the Lord in that Heavenly Family Reunion.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Vicky Moore (Bob); son Milton G. Gilmore (Angela); grandsons David Moore (Julie), Matthew Moore (Brittany), Gerald Gilmore (Carrie); granddaughter Amy Hodge (Travis); great-grandsons Riley and Reid Hodge, Kyler Gilmore; great-granddaughters Kara and Chelsea Moore.

Eugene was a member of Park Lane Baptist Church and all services will be held at the church, 1480 Lake Shore Blvd. Visitation will be Monday, October 6, 10-11am. Funeral service will follow at 11 am, Pastor Richard Carey officiating. A graveside service will be held at Fountain Hill Cemetery, Fountain Hill, NC at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Park Lane Baptist Church are suggested.
