Mittie Marie Doty

Mittie Marie Doty, age 92, passed away July 1, 2013, with her niece, Sha, by her side. She was born in Burnsville, Mississippi, daughter of the late Raymond H. and Ida Elizabeth (Taylor) Smith. Mittie married Charles H. Doty in 1949 and together they had many wonderful years before he passed away in 1990.

Mittie was an avid reader, quilter, seamstress, crocheter, bingo player, but most of all, a believer in Christ. Mittie was a long-time member of Baymeadows Baptist Church.

Surviving are a special niece, Shara Holt, who was her caretaker for the past years, and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces, great-great nephews, many dear friends, and her church family.

Visitation will be held at Baymeadows Baptist Church, 4826 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, FL, on Monday, July 8, 2013, from 12:30 – 1:30 pm ,followed by the funeral at 1:30 pm. Interment will be in Beaches Memorial Park, Atlantic Beach, FL. No graveside services will be held.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Baymeadows Baptist Church Building Fund, American Heart Association, the Jeff Holt Scholarship Fund through St. Johns County School District, or Friends of the Library.
