Morey J. Somach, 81, of Jacksonville, FL passed away at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by his family on July 20th, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 21, 1936 to his mother, Celia, and father, David. Morey accomplished great things in the retail industry where he eventually retired as an Executive Vice President and moved back to Jacksonville in 1991, which was where he originally met Peggy in 1971. His semi-retirement in Jacksonville allowed him to pursue his passion of anything to do with the sun. Morey’s passion later evolved into an intense fandom for Jaguar and Seminole Football. When not occupied with family, his other pursuits of interest came by way of the remote control. Morey is survived by Peggy, his loving wife of 45 years; his daughter, Lani Milton; sons, David and Matthew Somach; and his grandchildren, Mitchell Somach, Emily and Katelyn Milton, all of whom he adored. Morey was a loving person whose generosity knew no bounds. His legacy will be the love he showed in serving his family & friends. Morey was always there as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to selflessly support those who were lucky enough to know him. He will be missed. In lieu of a memorial service, his family asks for those whose lives he touched to honor his memory by serving others as he did. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. www.hgmandarin.com (904) 288-0025.
