

Our dear mother, Nancy Buzzard Skeans sadly passed away December 12, 2023 at the age of 85. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well loved member of the community in Jacksonville, Florida. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida from Akron, Ohio in 1988.
Nancy F. Skeans was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Skeans, Fiancee’ Roger Keller, Parents Elidia Mae Buzzard and Truitt Elsworth Buzzard. Siblings June Flowers, Jimmy ( Ruth) Buzzard and Evelyn (Granny) Cox. She is survived by her sister Shirley (Hank) Phillips, Children Shirley (Mike) LaVoie, Mike (Maureen) Skeans, Bruce Skeans and David (Dr. Deborah Newcomb) Skeans. Grandchildren Lisa (Andre) Parker, Patrick (Kelly) LaVoie, Matt (Emily) Skeans, Sara Skeans, Kristin (Carson) Ohm, Callie Skeans, Lantz Nixon, Weston (Laura) Skeans, Elii (Jacque Lynn) Skeans, Faye (Randy) Preuss, Jessie Skeans, Emmi (Andrew Baumgartner) Skeans. Great Grandchildren Alyson Lary, Andre and Sean Parker, Brock, Alec and Blake LaVoie, Henry and Olivia Skeans, Anna and Madelyn Skeans, Luna Skeans, Josephine and Eloise Preuss, and Cason Cobb. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Many other close friends including her best friend Lynn Howard.
Nancy lived a very fulfilling life and had many hobbies and accomplishments including being a lifeguard, cheerleader and snare drummer while attending Willard High School. She was a cake decorator, made wooden clocks, was a founder of the CSX Wife’s Club, enjoyed playing her guitar, crafts and making t-shirts, and enjoyed looking for shark’s teeth at the beach, and loved our annual float down the Ichetucknee Springs River. Nancy also enjoyed many travels around the world, and loved to fish. Her family and friends meant the world to her.

Services will be Saturday, December 23rd 10:30am at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223. Nancy’s wishes for casual attire to celebrate her life.
