She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised and educated in Mount Healthy, Ohio (just north of Cincinnati). In her first marriage, she spent time away in West Germany and St Louis, IL before returning to Cincinnati in 1956. Remarried in 1965, she relocated with her family to Jacksonville in 1973, for employment with Offshore Power Systems. She and her husband left Jacksonville in 1978 as her husband pursued employment with both the Tenneco & Westinghouse Corporations in Chicago, IL and Dammam, Saudi Arabia and then back to Pittsburgh, PA before retiring back to NW St Johns County in 1986. Mrs. Tanzler soon became involved with the St. Johns County Library system as a manager of the old Fruit Cove Branch Library for over 10 years and then heavily involved with the "new" full service Bartram Trail Branch Library as a tireless and devoted volunteer and leader of the BT Friends of the Library for the last 20 years. On more than one occasion, she was recognized as the "Volunteer of the Year" for her efforts and influence in the surrounding community through the library. She also loved to play bridge 2-3 times per week with her friends in and around the St. Johns/Fruit Cove area; and hosted a monthly standing bridge luncheon at her home for many years with her very closest friends. She also had a great love of cruising and enjoyed treating her family to numerous lengthy (7- 11 day) cruises over the past 20 years.
Mrs. Tanzler was predeceased by her husband Warren G. Tanzler and a grandson, Nicholas Maxwell Tanzler. She is survived by her three children, Miriam Margaret Davis (Bob) of Cincinnati, Ohio.
