Naomi Caruthers Sikes of Jacksonville passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021. She was born to the late Mary and Guy Caruthers on September 28, 1924 in St. Augustine, FL. She graduated from Jackson High School where she met her future husband, Dewey, who preceded her in death in 2016. They were married for 76 years. She was a devoted wife and mother of 5 children. She loved to sew and made countless scarves, pillows and stuffed animals for hospitals and charities. Naomi was a long time member of First United Methodist Church for 56 years. She grew up in St. Augustine where she developed a lifelong love of the ocean and the seashore. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Florence Snead, Jane Marvin and Shirley Sapp, and children Paula Jones and Terry Sikes. She is survived by children Ted Sikes, Tom Sikes, Peggy Sikes Byers, son-in-law Ron Jones, daughters-in-law Denny Sikes and Bonita Golden Sikes; nieces Cyndy Burton, Chazz Gable, Donna Jean Howarter; nephews Larry Marvin, Hal Shaw and Michael Reed; grandchildren J.J. Snow (Sherry), Patrick Jones, Marcie Jones, Savannah Sikes, Sierra Sikes Allen (David) Phoebe Sikes; and great-granddaughter Cecilia Grace Allen.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 5th, 6:00-8:00 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at Greenlawn, 4300 Beach Blvd., 32207. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6th at 2:00pm, also at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, followed by internment at Greenlawn. Tony Chance officiating.
