It is with much confliction between sadness and comfort that we share the news that Nettie received her angel wings in the early morning hours of March 6. We find great peace in the knowledge and assurance that she is now living in her eternal home.
Nettie was a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and a friend to many. She was born in Largo, Florida and raised on her family’s farm in Live Oak, Florida with her 5 brothers and 1 sister. After graduating from high school, Nettie moved to Jacksonville to attend Massey Business School. It was during this time that she met her future husband of over 60 years, Ernest. Upon graduation, she joined the Jacksonville work force and quickly worked her way into the medical field, first as the assistant and office manager in a growing orthopedic office and later as a medical transcriptionist, totaling a commitment of over 60 years in this vocation. Nettie continued to work into her early 80’s as a dedicated and valued employee, all the while nurturing and mentoring many young women entering the medical field.
Nettie Lou, as he called her, was a devoted wife to Ernest, and was his caregiver in his later years until his passing in 2011. She was a committed mother to her children, Pattie and Billy, and enjoyed raising them to enjoy all things outdoors, including fishing, yard work, camping, and boating. She found great pleasure in introducing them to farming during their many seasonal trips back to the family farm for vegetable harvesting and prepping what they picked for future meals. Nettie and Ernest both enjoyed attending their grandchildren’s sporting events for many years and she was awarded the honor of Grandparent of the Year as a volunteer reader at their elementary school. In her later years, Nettie began quilting and knitting, making baby blankets/quilts and winter scarfs for her friends and family. She enjoyed, and rarely missed, watching college football on Saturdays and the NFL teams on Sundays.
Nettie is lovingly survived by her daughter Pattie Appleby (Gavin) and her son Bill Anderson (Sally). Cherishing her memory are grandchildren Christie DeMasi, Kenny Hartley (Susan), Christopher Appleby, Tim Woodruff (Amy), Kyle Anderson (Jenna), and Cody Anderson (Kameron); great grandchildren Joey DeMasi, Drew DeMasi, Norman Hartley, Brynn Hartley, Brooks Hartley, Ella Anderson, Peighton Anderson, Knox Anderson, Haven Anderson, and Avery Anderson. Nettie is also survived by her brothers L.B. Boyette (Patsy), Maxie Boyette (Yvonne), Milton Boyette (Shirley) and a sister Vonceil Harrell (Gene). In addition to her husband Ernest, Nettie was preceded in death by her brothers, Windlyn Boyette, Dale Boyette (Priscilla) and Don Boyette (Shirley).
The family would like to thank the many loving hands who touched Nettie’s life, especially those in her final weeks, including the compassionate care provided by the Community Hospice Homecare team and Concierge Caregivers.
