Born on December 8, 1939, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Gail began her career as a teacher and later became a dedicated Army wife supporting her husband and her two girls.
Memaw enjoyed time with her grandchildren, attending all their events and milestones with a bullhorn in hand. She loved flowers, lunch with friends, shopping, and pedicures. She also made it a priority to stay connected, often traveling to spend time with family or her lifelong college buds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nora Siler and Charles Siler, Jr.; her husband, Col (Ret) Robert C. Deshler; and her sister, Charlotte Ramsey. She is survived by her daughters, Judith Deshler and Mary Daniels; her five grandchildren, Ashley Shaw, Taylor Blansit (Foster Blansit), Brandon Shaw, JT Daniels, and John Lucas Daniels; and her brother, Charles Siler, III.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM EST followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM EST at Shumate Funeral Home in Middlesboro, Kentucky, with burial to follow at Harrogate Cemetery in Harrogate, Tennessee. In honor of Gail’s love of flowers, the family welcomes floral arrangements or encourages planting a flower in her memory. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a breast cancer foundation in her honor.
