As a young man, he owned a small business that utilized his technical skills gained in the Aviation division of the Navy. Norm was a system engineer for International Business Machines (IBM) and participated in the launching of the first personal computer. In the 1970’s, he moved to Florida settling with his family in the historic community of Mandarin. After a successful career with IBM, he became a licensed Real Estate Broker and member of the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors.
Norm was an active member of the Mandarin Community Club, Election Poll volunteer, Kiwanis International, Austin-Healey Club, and Boy Scouts of America. His generosity reached friend and stranger through his patronage to a variety of charities. As a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, he served many years on the vestry as junior and senior warden. His strong faith and love of God is evident in his extensive volunteer hours. He defined renaissance man with his musical talent, intelligence in areas of math and science, a love of reading, and athletic abilities. Although his hobbies were many, he especially loved the outdoors, cars, and politics. Being a provider, advisor, and stronghold for his family gave him the most joy.
