

Otto is survived by the love his life and wife of 77 years Margaret Vogel, his daughters
Marge Williams and Renee Lewis, granddaughters Melissa Ramirez (Michael) and Tina
Vickers, great grandchildren Shelbi Moxley, Staten Vickers, Collin Harper, Kati Anne
Vickers, Matthew Ramirez, Nikolas Ramirez (Kristian), and Daniela Muzquiz. Otto was
proceeded in death by his father Louis Vogel, Mother Pearl Vogel, older sisters Pearl
Brigman and Willie Mae Anderson, older brother William Vogel, and son in law Dan
Lewis.
Otto was born in Jacksonville, Fl on September 14, 1924.
Otto joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 in September 1941. He proudly served his
country for 30 years, through W.W. II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, rising to
the rank of Leading Chief Petty Officer of VP-16. He retired as a Master Chief and
settled with his wife Margaret in Jacksonville, Fl. After retirement his love for tools led
him to a career at Gunning Hardware Store. Otto was an avid tennis player and runner. He ran the Gate River Run many times as well as many other runs throughout Florida and Georgia. He was a member of Wesconnett Methodist church where he was on the Trustees committee, served as an usher, and a Sunday school teacher for many years.
The words family and friends have used to describe Otto are kind, loyal, godly,
dedicated, servant hearted, patriot, hero, gentle, gentleman, joyful, and precious.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 on Thursday, June 23 at Hardage-Giddens
Funeral Home Mandarin Chapel with visitation starting at 10:00
Burial will follow at The Jacksonville National Cemetery.
