Patricia Ann Avery went home to be with the Lord September 3, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born March 17, 1937, Ann was preceded in death by her father, Allen Jones, her mother Lucile Jones Wren, and her loving husband of 57 years Melvin Billy Avery. She is survived by her legacy of love, her four children: David (Debbie), Susan (Wayne), Billy (Harriett), Christopher (Jessica), a daughter-in-law, Lori Avery, eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Ann was a wonderful Christian example, a loving mother, and a faithful friend. A hard worker, she was the Postmaster Relief at Bryceville Post Office for nearly twenty years, and in her retirement worked in the daycare for Old Plank Road Baptist Church, as she loved babies and children. A charter member of San Mateo Baptist Church, she served as treasurer for fifty years, taught Sunday school, and faithfully volunteered in the church kitchen and nursery. An avid shopper, her fashion sense was her calling card. A sweet spirit, she always made sure her family was fed with a home-cooked meal, including her favorite part: dessert. She loved Christmas, taking vacations, reading, and watching Westerns and Crime Procedurals. We rejoice as she is now in Heaven with Jesus Christ, reunited with her precious husband, her parents, brothers, sisters, and life-long friends.
