Paul Collins affectionately known as “Butch," passed away at his home on June 18, 2019. He was born in Kewanee Illinois to Paul A. Collins and Theresa Mae Collins who have passed from this life. He spent most of his childhood in Michigan. He then moved with his family to Jacksonville around the age of 14. He served two years in the Army and was honorably discharged.
His grandfather owned Werner Plumbing and this is where he started in the plumbing industry. He initially worked for Gorman Company and various other firms until he came to Hughes Supply in June 1, 1993 and retired in March of 2018. Everyone in the industry knew him and greatly respected his expertise.
His sense of humor and the ability to make you laugh put everyone at ease. He was loving, loyal and welcoming. His heart was big and people around him would always warm to his caring ways.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sheila Collins; daughter, Renee Collins McClellan; son, Paul A. Collins, and grandson, David Brian Peak, Michael Anthony Peak, Michael Gage Collins, and Daniel McClellan. He has a brother, Tommy Collins and a sister, Brenda Leeds. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Tammy Collins (Jimmy Collins now deceased), and brother Bobby Collins (deceased).
A celebration of life service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Boulevard Jacksonville, Florida 32223
He was a man of great strength of character and may Butch’s smile forever live in the hearts of the people that he touched.
