

Paul Gifford, 79, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville following heart complications. He was born May 15, 1936 in Mitcham, United Kingdom and proceeded to serve in the Parachute Regiment of the British Army during his youth. After serving, he graduated from the University of London with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Electronic Engineering.After graduation, Mr. Gifford began his long career as a Chartered Engineer. His work took him across the globe including places such as Scandinavia, Africa, Iran, China, and finally Hong Kong where he was involved in the construction of numerous city landmarks such as the Cheung Kong Center. He took the utmost pride in his work and approached each new project with the boundless enthusiasm that he had for life. He met his wife at the Hong Kong Jockey Club and they were married in 1986.In his retirement, Mr. Gifford was able to enjoy his passion of reading and listening to classical music. He also found time to complete a Master of Arts degree from the Open University of Hong Kong in addition to occasional consulting work. He not only enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family, but he also relished the opportunity to join his close friends for a drink at the local pub. Mr. Gifford is survived by his wife and companion of 35 years, Sau Hei (Tang) Gifford; his sons, Lars Gifford and Mark Gifford; and his grandson, Luke Gifford. A memorial service will be held at the Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home on June 20 at 4.30pm, with a private burial to be followed in Hong Kong.
