Peyton Frye, 82, passed on January 21, 2022, in Jacksonville, Florida, after battling cancer for nearly seven years. He remained strong and determined to soldier on throughout his entire life. Peyton was born in Virginia to the late Harry and Thelma Frye. He moved to Jacksonville, FL, 35 years ago.
Peyton is preceded in death by daughter Liz Frye, son Tony Frye, and grandson Garth Webb. Survivors include his wife of 64 years Judy Frye, daughters Joan and Lynn Frye, son JC Frye (Jojo), grandsons Chris Frye (Kim), Jason and Carlo Conty, granddaughter Larissa Charoubi, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Peyton retired from General Electric after 39 years of service. He was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree – Patriotic Degree) and the Food Bank at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Mandarin.
The family would like to express many thanks to those who fought the cancer battle with Peyton, namely the Cancer Specialists of North Florida, Dr. Miten Patel and staff. Also, the family is grateful for the compassionate end-of-life care provided by Community Hospice of NE Florida.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (a rosary service 6:00 to 6:30) during a memorial service on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville FL 32223. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to your favorite charity in Peyton’s name.
A second memorial service will be conducted (date TBD) at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. John’s the Evangelistic Catholic Church at 301 Sheppard Ct., Waynesboro, Va. 22980. A burial service will follow at the Riverview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chris Frye, Brian Hutchinson, Carl Shull, Tony Floyd, Nick Hundley and Daryl Comer.
