

Phillip R. “Papa” Horton, 73, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Mr. Horton, a native of Jacksonville, was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and had been a member of the Plumbers Local 234 for over 45 years. He was also a “rock” at Northside Church of God. Mr. Horton was predeceased by his parents, Hal and Marjorie Horton; father-in-love, Charlie Belton; and brothers-in-love, Carl Belton and Chuckie Belton. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol Horton; mother-in-love, Betty Belton; 1 daughter, Susie Horton Thompson (Tim); 1 son, Danny Horton (Nancy); 2 brothers, David Horton (Connie) and Larry Horton (Nancy); 4 grandchildren: Kyle Horton (Loren), Ryan Horton, Hannah Thompson and Emma Thompson; sister-in-love, Ellen Belton; and many other loving family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 6, at Northside Church of God, 5252 Dunn Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32218, with Rev. Judy Weeks officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.
