Phyllis Lucille Carter, 80, went home to be with her Lord on July 11, 2023, at her home in Anthem Lakes. She was born on February 14, 1943. Phyllis graduated from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for many years in the nursery at Duval Medical Center (now Shand’s Hospital) in Jacksonville. She also worked in Childrens Services for the State of Florida. Phyllis was a very devout Christian and was active in the Gardenview Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Phyllis was predeceased by her father, Walton Carter, her mother, Lucille Herrin, and her sister, Dianne Copeman. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Tom Copeman, nephews Patrick Copeman (Robin Besand), Wayne Copeman (Karen), cousin Jennifer Griffin Heft (Richard), and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
A visitation for Phyllis will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Gardenview Baptist Church, 3139 Armsdale Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM in the church.
A committal service will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 N. Main St., Jacksonville, FL 32206.
