Phyllis was born on January 6, 1943 in South River, New Jersey to John and Mary (Krasnowski) Giera. On April 20, 1963, she married Robert Kucharski and together they raised two children, Barbara and Robert Jr.
In the early 1980s the family relocated to Florida and while not being fond of the move at the time, Phyllis was forced to listen to her husband and son sing along to Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” for the entirety of the drive.
Phyllis was known to show up everywhere she went with her pocketbook and a can of Brisk Iced Tea. Of course, there was no need to ever offer to take her purse because she would always hold onto it. In their retirement, Phyllis enjoyed traveling with her husband to Atlantic City and Biloxi. She loved a good penny slot machine and a gin and tonic to go along. She infamously hated having her picture taken so her family knew not to even try.
Phyllis cared deeply for her family and put them before herself until the very end. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary, and her beloved sister, Janice. She is survived by her husband, Robert, her two children, Barbara (Peter) and Robert Jr. (Lisa), her grandchildren, Danielle, RJ, and Nicole, brother-in-law, John, and daughter-in-law, Ann.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin and will be followed by a private burial at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
